King Alfred School student wins top award at UK Philosothon

-

A pupil from Highbridge’s King Alfred School has won a top award at the first ever UK Philosothon.

Ten students from years 9-13 took part in the inaugural event at Kings School in Taunton.

Daisy Kilduff, pictured right, from year 9 won the award for the best philosopher in year 11, after stepping in for a year 11 student who was unable to attend.

Head teacher Simon Aylward told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The event was an exciting opportunity for our students to discuss philosophical ideas and to take part in communities of inquiry with nine other schools from across the south west and beyond.”

“Daisy scored 42 points out of a possible 50, which is an outstanding achievement especially with a group of students who are two years older than her.”

“All of the students who took part did exceptionally well and they are all very excited about taking part in another Philosothon very soon.”
