Burnham-On-Sea war veterans and local residents joined millions of people across Britain in remembering those who have died at war during a two-minute silence to mark Armistice Day on Tuesday morning (November 11th).
The silence, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, represented the moment when all guns stopped at the end of World War I.
The gathering of almost 100 people, which included Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Peter Burridge-Clayton, assembled in Burnham-On-Sea High Street outside the Somerset and Dorset. Traffic was briefly stopped as those present took the opportunity to silently reflect.
Highbridge’s Southwell House Trust Committee also hosted an act of remembrance on Tuesday as well – as pictured at the bottom of this page.
