Burnham-On-Sea’s Town Twinning Association has held a successful French Evening at the town’s Community Centre.
Friday’s event began with a French meal that started with a Tartiflette Savoyarde, a classic French dish from the Savoie region in the French Alps. The dessert was tarte aux pommes, French apple tart, with clotted cream.
This was followed by a fun quiz on France featuring all things French. This included identifying French singers from the music of well-known singers such as Sacha Distel and Edith Piaf and spotting French landmarks from photographs.
The theme of the evening was French but the aim was to have fun and the capacity crowd certainly had that, being served by comedy waiters complete with waistcoats, aprons and moustaches!
Colette Winfield, Chairman of the Louvigne du Desert French Twinning Committee, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a wonderful evening, had a lot of fun and raised some money towards our next Twinning venture when our French friends visit us in Burnham and Highbridge.”
“I would like to thank all those who helped run the evening, particularly Jan Newton for her expertise in preparing the meal, which was enjoyed by everyone present. Hopefully this will be the first of similar events in the future.”
