TV actress joins Burnham-On-Sea MP at launch of Carers Week 2013

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has joined forces with TV actress Lynda Bellingham to recognise the contribution that local carers make on a daily basis at the launch of Carers Week 2013.

Lynda has appeared on ITV’s Strictly Come Dancing, Loose Women and Country House Sunday.

She and Tessa Munt, pictured, launched the national ‘Prepared to Care’ campaign which highlights how the UK’s 6.5 million carers are coping, how effectively government is supporting the growing numbers of carers, and whether the wider population is prepared for future caring responsibilities.

Carers Week takes place to recognise and celebrate the UK’s carers and encourage them to access the support, advice and information they need that can help improve their lives and the people they care for.

Tessa Munt told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Every day across our rural area 1 in 8 people will care for a loved one in some form. These people give up their time, sometimes their jobs, and often make life changing decisions to care for someone. We, as a society, must be prepared to care for our carers.”

Carers Week takes place from 10-16th June with events being held to help carers access support and advice.

In the local area, Crossroadscare will be running a trip to a Cider Museum near Highbridge.
