Turnip Prize 2023: Finalists announced for Somerset spoof art prize contest

The finalists for the 2023 Turnip Prize have been announced.

The awards are organised by a Wedmore pub each year as a parody of the world-famous Turner Prize.

The prize is awarded to the person “using the least amount of effort possible” to make a unique piece of art.

This year’s finalists are:

  • “A Eye” by G.P.T. Chat Esq
    An artificial eye ball
  • “Coronation Chicken”  by ChicKing the Third of Somerset
    A KFC carton with a crown on top
  •  “Inflation”  by Ike Price
    An inflated balloon and pump
  • “Party Gate” by Mr Keep Calm
    A gate with a party hat on the top

This year organisers received 193 entries and say “we have ordered a second skip.”

The presentation for this year’s awards will take place at 6.00pm on Tuesday 5th December in The New Inn, Combe Batch, Wedmore, Somerset.
