Burnham-On-Sea’s Tudor Lodge care home unveils £500k upgrade

-

A Burnham-On-Sea care home has completed a £500,000 refurbishment of its facilities in a major upgrade.

Tudor Lodge care home in Brightstowe Road is a family-run care home for the elderly, having been acquired by owners David and Judy Arnold in 1995.

It has grown rapidly during recent years and the latest upgrade sees it accommodating 28 elderly people.

At the time of purchase 23 years ago, it was in the hands of the receivers and had only three people in residence despite its maximum capacity of 18. Following a programme of investment and refurbishment, the reputation of the home was transformed and in 1998 an extension was added to increase registration to 27.

A spokesman says: “Now being operated by David and Judy’s son, Chris, we are delighted that we have just completed another extensive refurbishment programme, including six new ‘wet rooms’ and a communal bathroom, all equipped with the latest bathing solutions, designed for differing resident mobility levels.”

“We have also added a staff area, medic store, a 13-person lift over three floors and an extra room to take our registration to 28.”

“Over the years we have developed close links with the local community and our residents are frequent visitors to the Princess Theatre.”

“We are also fortunate to have visits from Octopus Children’s Centre and St Andrew’s School, which the residents really enjoy.”

“We gained accreditation in the ‘Gold Standards Framework’ in 2014 and were overwhelmed to receive ‘platinum’ status when we were re-accredited last year despite all the building work!”

“We hope to continue to provide high quality care in a homely atmosphere for many years to come.”
