A Burnham-On-Sea cul-de-sac’s stunning display of over 100,000 Christmas lights – dubbed ‘Britain’s most festive street’ – has raised almost £6,500 for charity in its first three weeks.
Crowds of visitors have been heading to the Trinity Close display and have dug deep for this year’s charities, raising £6,478 by the end of the third week for BARB Search & Rescue and cancer support charity PETAL: The Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust.
Resident Roger Flower told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It has continued to be very busy, with crowds of visitors coming to see the display. We raised almost £1,000 during one night just before Christmas.”
He added: “Extra traffic cones to restrict parking are in place at the suggestion of Somerset Highways, the Police and the district council, and we are pleased to see these have been heeded.”
“We are encouraging visitors to walk in and enjoy the lights without parking at Trinity Close or in Berrow Road.”
Residents, pictured below, have decorated their homes, gardens and walls with colourful twinkling lights, and the display is lit each night from 4.30pm-10pm until early January.
