Trinity Close residents present £3,000 to Burnham hovercraft charity

-

The charity that runs Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercrafts has been given a financial boost this week with the donation of more than £3,000.

Residents in Trinity Close handed over a cheque to BARB for £3,127.71 to help fund the charity’s replacement of one of its life-saving hovercrafts.

The money was collected from visitors during the street’s annual Christmas lights display. Last year’s display of over 90,000 lights attracted national media attention during the festive period and was visited by crowds of visitors.

Trinity Close resident Nick Gardner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re amazed to have raised such a huge sum during the recession – the generosity of people continues to be very strong. The Christmas lights attracted lots of attention and we are very pleased to be donating this money to an excellent local cause, BARB.”

Mark Newman, BARB Chairman, added: “We’re delighted to have received this very generous donation and thank the Trinity Close residents for their support and all those who donated the money over the Christmas period.”

He said the latest donation will help BARB towards its target of raising £60,000 towards the cost of replacing the Light Of Elizabeth hovercraft, which is a training craft that has been heavily used over recent years.
