Athletes from across the region will be converging on Burnham-On-Sea this Sunday (April 22nd) when the town holds its annual spring triathlon.
Organised by Burnham-On-Sea Swim and Sports Academy, the Super Sprint Triathlon and Junior Triathlon will be held from 7am and several roads in the town will be closed as usual.
The South Esplanade, Pier Street and Steart Drive will be closed to all traffic from 4am until 9am.
Seaview Road and The Esplanade will also be shut from its junction with Sea View Road in a southerly direction to its junction with Pier Street.
“We have a full entry in the Super Sprint which starts at 7am and this will be followed by the junior event of over 100 children,” one of the organisers told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“It will be a great event, not only for those taking part, but spectators too with lots of action to watch.”
Between 4am and 9am roads shut will be: South Esplanade, from its junction with Steart Drive in a southerly direction, plus Pier Street, from its junction with South Esplanade to its junction with Abingdon Street, and Steart Drive from its junction with South Esplanade in an easterly direction for 96 metres.
Between 4am to 12pm, Seaview Road and The Esplanade from its junction with Sea View Road in a southernly direction to its junction with Pier Street will be closed.
