Burnham-On-Sea mum tells of ‘close escape’ as tree falls in front of her

-

A Burnham-On-Sea walker and her young son had a narrow escape after this small tree narrowly missed them when it was blown down during Thursday’s high winds.

Nicki Bale was walking along the path that runs from the Frank Foley Parkway to Ben Travers Way when the tree came down at the height of the gales, caused by Storm Doris.

“I heard the branch of the tree crack as we approached it and the tree quickly collapsed across the pathway in front of us – just moments before we’d have been next to it,” she said.

“It was only a small tree but it would have hurt us if it had come down on us – it was a close thing.”

Winds gusting to 60mph swept through the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area on Thursday.
