The owners of this Burnham-On-Sea home received a big shock when they opened their curtains on Tuesday morning (March 20th) to find a huge tree had been blown over during Monday night’s gales.

The lime tree toppled over at Gardenhurst, near Grove Road, damaging garden fences, but fortunately leaving two nearby homes untouched.

Local resident Roy Wallis told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was quite a shock to wake up and see this scene in our garden.”

“The winds were very strong last night and came from an unusual northerly direction.”

“We’d heard a noise outside last night, but nothing to suggest a large tree had come down.”

He added: “We’re certainly relieved that it didn’t come down any nearer to our houses.”
