Travelodge says it has received hundreds of applications for roles at its new Highbridge hotel.
The new 75-room hotel, which is located off Bennett Road at the entrance to Isleport Business Park, is due to open on November 5th, as we recently reported here.
Yenny Rodriguez, hotel manager at the ‘Highbridge Burnham-On-Sea Travelodge’, says hundreds of applicants from across Somerset attended a recruitment day at the Princess Theatre in Burnham and she managed to hire her 25-strong team in just one day.
She said: “I am totally overwhelmed by the great response that we received on our recruitment day for the 25 jobs we had advertised.”
“We had hundreds of applicants queuing throughout the day and it’s amazing that we managed to hire a full team in one day.”
“I was looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering great customer service, just like myself, and I am delighted that I now have a great team of local people in place.”
“My focus now is to train my team so that we can get off to a successful start when our hotel opens in autumn, as it is going to be a very busy period in the lead up to Christmas.”
The new team is currently doing training at Western’s Travelodge, so that they are fully trained up to manage the new hotel when it opens.
The new hotel has an on-site restaurant called The Bar Café and is part of a £6 million investment by the landlord.
