Legal action has been started in a bid to move a group of travellers who have set up camp on Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront lawns this week.
The travellers of five motorhomes moved onto the lawns on the South Esplanade and opposite the town’s sailing club over the weekend.
Sedgemoor District Council has begun legal action to try and get the travellers to move on.
Speaking at a council meeting on Monday evening (May 9th), district councillor Paul Herbert said: “Sedgemoor have been very quick to act on this – legal proceedings are underway to get them moved.”
It comes just days after another group of travellers left Burnham’s Pier Street car park after gathering there for more than a week.
