A group of residents in Burnham-On-Sea is to lobby the Town Council over its ‘inaction’ in taking forward £320,000 of improvements to the town centre.
Members of the Town Team will voice their concerns about delays in drawing up plans to spend the Tesco community cash during Monday’s meeting of the Town Council.
The group’s Bev Milner Simonds, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There has been two months of inaction since the Town Team’s 20 proposals to regenerate the town centre were presented to the Town Council earlier this summer.”
“We have lots of ideas and enthusiasm but the Town Council has not done anything to take forward the proposals.”
“It has only shown interest in one suggestion, the creation of a Town Centre Manager, and it is now proposing forming another new group to gather further ideas.”
The introduction of a pedestrianised zone in Burnham’s High Street was at the top of the 20-item list, which was drawn up following consultation with businesses, residents and community groups to suggest how the £320,000 of Tesco cash should be spent.
