Burnham-On-Sea’s Town Crier was given a surprise party to mark his 70th birthday on Monday (January 23rd).
Town Crier Alistair Murray has been a familiar sight and sound on the streets of Burnham-On-Sea for the past four years as he helps to promote community events in the town centre.
A dozen friends and colleagues gathered at Burnham’s Tourist Information Centre on Monday to wish him a happy birthday and present him with a cake, decorated with a classic Austin 10 car and a town crier on top.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Michael Clarke, who was unable to attend, sent a message of congratulations on behalf of the Town Council.
