Eleven Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge groups shared a £2,950 cash windfall on Monday (February 5th) when the town council handed out its annual grants to local groups.
Representatives from each of the organisations was on hand to pick up their cheques during a presentation at the town council chambers in Jaycroft Road.
Those collecting funds included David Cardwell (£250) to help with Burnham and Highbridge Army Cadets’ costs of modernising its kitchen; Cllr Mrs Hilary Rose (£250) on behalf of Burnham Sea Cadets to finance their extension and modernisation project.
Mrs Hazel baund collected £150 towards Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society’s concert on March 24th; Albert Laurence was handed £150 to help fund the Town Twinning Association’s visit to the twin town; and Dave Sprinks collected £250 towards the Vale Of Avalon Vintage Vehicle Road Run.
Sally Cooper and Steve Manville were handed £250 towards the 290 Squadron ATC Burnham Detachment; Ewan MacGregor (£250) for 1st Burnham Scout Group; Jennifer Golding (£300) for Highbridge Festival of the Arts; Di Monaghan (£250) for the BAY Centre; Spencer Dibble (£200) for Burnham United FC. A further £650 was handed to the organisers of the Burnham-On-Sea Folkfest.
