Burnham-On-Sea town centre shops receive funding boost to enhance shopfronts

-

Independent retailers in Burnham-On-Sea town centre are enhancing their shopfronts thanks to a grant scheme run by the Town Council.

Nearly 20 shop owners and lease holders applied for grant funding up to the value of £1,000 each to enhance and improve their store frontage in Burnham town centre.

Properties in Burnham’s High Street and adjoining town centre streets were invited to apply for funding from the Shop Front Grant Scheme, as part of the council’s Burnham Evolution project.

So far, upgrades have been carried out on six shopfronts in Burnham – Julia’s Flowers, Macbeth Funeral Services, Cafe Aroma, Secret World Wildlife Rescue, The Laptop Shop plus Prim N’ Proper Pamper.

The council says that other shops to apply to the Shop Front Grant Scheme in Burnham are A K Autos, Antony James, Beauty Oasis Day Spa, Brit Chips, Chintz Tea Room, DusiCake, Julians, Kemp Hall Chartered Certified Accountants, Material Needs, May’s Cafe, Peter’s Hair Stylist, Prim N’ Proper and Seafoods.

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor, Cllr Mike Facey, says: “I am greatly pleased to see the work which has already gone into shop fronts awarded funding across the town centre. The finished result looks marvellous and it is a real boost for Burnham-On-Sea, especially as it will attract new business to the town centre.”

He adds: “I look forward to seeing other businesses complete their enhancements and improvements to their shop fronts in due course.”

Retailers and service providers who applied for funding can use the cash to spruce up their shop fronts’ signs, shutter graphics, make repairs to structures and/or services, as well as make improvements to premises fittings.

Burnham-On-Sea.com also recently reported here that a similar scheme for Highbridge is being run.
