Recruitment for new Burnham Town Centre Manager to start in 2014

-

A new Town Centre Manager for Burnham-On-Sea is set to be appointed early in 2014, town councillors have proposed this week.

The creation of the new role is among several improvements that are being funded by £440,000 of development cash from Tesco to offset the impact of its recent store expansion in Burnham.

Members of the council’s Town Projects Committee this week discussed when to appoint the new manager, who will co-ordinate events and promote the town centre, working alongside the council and Burnham’s Chamber of Trade.

Town Council Clerk Denise Emery told councillors at Wednesday’s meeting: “We will need a Town Centre Manager in position next year to prepare for the High Street improvements in 2015.”

The council’s Staffing Committee will begin work on drawing up a job description for the new role during December and the recruitment process is due to begin “early in the New Year.”

£133,000 of the Tesco funding has been earmarked for the creation of the Town Centre Manager role and relevant projects, as we reported here.
