Colourful new banners have been unveiled at two derelict sites in Burnham-On-Sea in a bid to make the town centre more welcoming.
The ‘welcome to Burnham-on-Sea’ banners have been introduced by the Town Council on hoardings at the former Tuckers Garage in Victoria Street, pictured above, and outside the former Morrisons store in Pier Street.
It comes after the Town Council recently made a decision to go ahead with a ‘spring clean’, overseen by Burnham’s Town Centre Manager.
“The Town Projects Committee has offered businesses to remove, for free, redundant brackets and clean gutters, install more flag pole brackets, re-hang the bunting and address the two large hoardings,” said Bev Milner Simonds.
“They thought it wise to use the same artwork as they had previously commissioned for the town map and planters in the town centre. The artistic coat of arms style illustration is intended to be bright, welcoming and representative of this seaside town. Thank you to the two building owners for permission granted.”
The clean-up work is currently ongoing in Burnham town centre. The artwork was produced by Burnham artist Juliet Farnese.
