The manager of Burnham-On-Sea’s Tourist Information Centre is to feature on a new nationwide publicity poster depicting the ‘face of British tourism.’
Annette Haggett, pictured, entered a competition run by VisitBritain, the UK’s national tourist board, and The Tourism Society, to win a chance to appear in a poster campaign.
Annette’s photograph was judged to be the best to represent the work of Tourist Information Centre staff across the country and it will feature on the poster alongside several others and will collectively become the ‘face of British tourism’ for 2009.
Annette told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We often have our photos used for our own publications, but to be part of a national poster campaign is a real surprise.”
She has worked at the Tourist Information Centre for more than 19 years and is a part of Sedgemoor District Council’s tourism team which advises and helps over 90,000 visitors each year.
Cindy Tee, Service Manager for Tourism, added: “We are really pleased that Annette’s picture was chosen. It shows her warmth and friendliness – she is a perfect representative of the staff working across the tourism network.”
“The poster is due to arrive in the next few weeks and we will certainly feature it prominently in the centre’s window.”
