Burnham-On-Sea’s 2006 holiday brochure was officially launched at a travel industry event in Brean this week.
The ‘More of a Holiday 2006 Sedgemoor’ publication was unveiled at the Somerset Holiday Literature and Catering Trade Show at Brean Leisure Park on Tuesday.
“Each year, Sedgemoor produces 75,000 full-colour copies of the guide. The guide is distributed to visitors – old and new – by a variety of promotional means including direct mail to selected households and through our three tourist information centres at Burnham-On-Sea, Bridgwater and Cheddar,” said Liz Cope, Tourism and Marketing Officer for Sedgemoor District Council.
Francis Cornish, Chairman of South West Tourism, opened the show and Cllr Anne Fraser MBE, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism on Sedgemoor District Council, is pictured officially launching the guide.
Members of the Sedgemoor Tourism Association have been promoting and distributing brochures by undertaking awareness campaigns throughout South Wales, the Midlands, Northwest and Home Counties and by attending holiday and leisure shows in Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester and London.
The guide is a 60-page glossy publication promoting the variety and quality of Sedgemoor as a tourist destination, ranging from seven miles of sandy beaches to the wonder and intrigue of the Cheddar Gorge. With over 2.8m visitors coming to the district each year, tourism adds £151m to Sedgemoor’s economy.
