Together Team aims to help families in need in Burnham and Highbridge

-

An initiative to help troubled families and people in need in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge has been praised this week.

The Together Team is a multi-agency partnership working to help build a stronger sense of community in the area through case management and community development.

The partners – who include local Police, Sedgemoor District Council, housing providers, youth organisations, schools and social care providers – meet on a regular basis with the Together Team Co-ordinator to discuss current cases and bring together knowledge and resources to support residents and resolve problems or complaints in the area.

“We adopt an outreach approach to meet the needs of individuals and families working with residents to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and financial hardship whilst improving quality of life, access to work opportunities, volunteering and training,” explained the group’s Joe Piscina and Kevin Curd during a Burnham and Highbridge Town Council meeting this week, pictured below.

Residents can get in touch with the Together Team directly to self-refer and ask for support and help or to raise concerns about a problem or issue within the area.

The Together Team also seeks to encourage resident involvement and to help make the local area an attractive, welcoming and accessible place. To contact the team, call 01278 435216 or email togetherteam@sedgemoor.gov.uk.

Town councillors welcomed the scheme at their meeting on Monday.
