The winners of a competition at Highbridge’s King Alfred School to design items for a time capsule have been announced this week.
As part of the school’s Challenge Day, the Year 8 students were asked to design an item which they feel represented Burnham and Highbridge to be placed in the time capsule which will be opened in the year 2062.
The school’s Amy Withecombe told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There were some amazing entries but the final winners were Harry Ratcliffe and Sam Hendy for their inspired signed school shirts idea, Emma Stolliday for her very clever poem about 2062, Olivia Augar and Lily Green for their video tour of KAS, and Holly Robinson for her well thought out fact sheet about 2012 and questions about 2062.”
She added: “Well done to all the winners and we look forward to 2062 when the time capsule will be opened!”
The youngsters worked with Cornwall Glass and Glazing to create the items. The capsule which will be sited at Highbridge’s M5 Glass Centre.
