Five jobs go as Burnham-On-Sea’s Threshers off-licence set to close

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Threshers off-licence is to shut by the end of this year with the loss of five jobs, it has been confirmed.

The College Street store has been formally earmarked for closure by KPMG, the administrators acting on behalf of the retailer’s parent company, First Quench Retailing.

The store had previously escaped closure when the first three lists of store closures were announced earlier in November. However, the new list of nationwide closures has not brought similar good news.

Judth Dow, a spokeswoman for KPMG, confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Burnham-On-Sea store is now on our list of closures and will unfortunately close by December 20th or earlier if stock runs out.”

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this month that the store faced an uncertain future after the retailer’s parent company, First Quench Retailing, went into administration.

The group, which trades as Threshers, Wine Rack, Haddows and The Local, has 1,300 shops. Threshers has suffered from increased competition from supermarkets in recent years. Click here for a list of all the stores that are closing.
