Burnham-On-Sea’s Threshers off-licence shop could be forced to close

-

A question mark is hanging over the future of an off-licence in Burnham-On-Sea this week.

Staff at the Threshers shop in College Street, pictured, face an uncertain future after the retailer’s parent company, First Quench Retailing, went into administration.

First Quench said its 6,500 staff across the UK would be paid until at least the end of this week.

The group, which trades as Threshers, Wine Rack, Haddows and The Local, has 1,300 shops. Administrators KPMG say they would look to save “as many jobs as possible” by selling the business as a going concern.

Threshers has suffered from increased competition from supermarkets in recent years.
