Highbridge man charged with theft after incident at supermarket

A Highbridge man has been charged with theft after leaving the town’s Asda store at the weekend with a trolley-load of shopping without paying.

The 39 year-old was caught by officers in Bank Street after allegedly leaving the supermarket with a trolley-load of products, including alcohol, without paying.

Police spokesman Simon Whitby confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A 39 year-old is due before Sedgemoor Magistrates on September 22nd. He was arrested by officers in nearby Bank Street and has been charged with theft.”

The store’s security staff alerted Burnham-On-Sea police on Saturday (September 12th) after spotting the man leaving the supermarket.
