Home Secretary Theresa May made a special visit to Burnham-On-Sea’s town centre on Friday (March 27th).

The Minister was shown around the town’s Farmers Market and chatted with traders and shop owners along the High Street during an hour-long visit as part of an election tour of several Somerset towns.

She was accompanied by Burnham’s Conservative parliamentary candidate James Heappey.

Mrs May visited Seafoods fishmongers, the town florist Flowers and Things and also Bessies Sweet Shoppe. There, she helped to launch a unique election survey where visitors are being encouraged to place coloured sweets in jars to denote their political party choice in the run-up to election day on Thursday 7th May.

She also met Burnham’s Mayor, Cllr Martin Cox, several town councillors and Town Centre Manager Bev Milner Simonds during the visit.
