Burnham-On-Sea’s MP is backing Theresa May in her battle to become Prime Minister against Andrea Leadsom.
James Heappey, who backed Stephen Crabb in the early round of the Conservative Party leadership contest until he dropped out, says he is supporting Theresa May.
“Two great candidates were chosen by the Conservative Parliamentary Party this week and I am really looking forward to hearing more of their ideas over the summer.”
“Andrea and Theresa are both brilliant. I’ve worked closely with Andrea through my work on the Energy Select Committee and she’s got tonnes of talent.”
“But as we’re chosing a Prime Minister as well as our party leader, I think there’s only really one choice.”
“I’m backing Theresa May for Prime Minister because I know she has the experience needed to see our country through the difficult times ahead and is committed to continuing the One Nation Conservative vision for the UK that will unite our party and our country.”
Theresa May visited Burnham-On-Sea in March 2015 during the run-up to the General Election to give her support to Mr Heappey.
