Tesco urged to resolve Burnham-On-Sea footpath lighting issues

-

Residents in Burnham-On-Sea have this week called on supermarket giant Tesco to step in and resolve lighting problems along a footpath it manages near its store.

The footpath running between Rosewood Avenue and the rear of the store in Ben Travers Way, which is owned and maintained by the store, has been unlit since the start of November.

Town Councillor Arthur Thorogood, who is pictured at the site this week, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This path is currently in pitch darkness at night and is dangerous for walkers.”

“I have received several complaints from nearby residents and have spoken to Tesco about getting the street lights repaired.”

Burnham North County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton is also pressing the store for action, having confirmed that the lights do not come under the jurisdiction of the county council.

Tesco spokeswoman Juliette Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We weren’t aware of a problem here until this week, but will be dealing with it as quickly as possible.”
