Fire drama prompts evacuation of Burnham-On-Sea’s Tesco store

-

These were the scenes at Burnham-On-Sea’s Tesco supermarket this morning (Sunday, August 30th) after a fire broke out in an oven, causing the evacuation of the store.

Two Burnham fire crews rushed to the premises in Ben Travers Way at 9am after the store’s alarms sounded.

“We found there had been a fire in an oven,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com at the scene. “The faulty equipment was taken outside as the cause was investigated.”

The store’s manager took the decision to evacuate the premises while the fire crews were on scene, and the store has now fully re-opened. There was not believed to have been any damage caused to the store itself.
