Leading fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett has been named as the VIP guest who will be switching on Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights next month.
Burnham Chamber of Trade has announced that the well-known author will be leading the big switch-on ceremony on Saturday November 26th at 4.45pm.
Sir Terry will join Burnham’s Mayor, the town’s Carnival Queen and local radio presenter Ian Burrage outside the Victoria Hotel in Victoria Street for the special ceremony.
Rhonda Mills, Chairman of Burnham’s Chamber of Trade, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is a great honour to have such a prominent author kindly agree to switch on our Christmas lights. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Sir Terry to Burnham.”
An afternoon of festive entertainment is being planned in conjunction with Burnham Lions Club during the run-up to the switch-on, starting at 2.30pm, featuring music from local schoolchildren and the Mudlarks Community Choir.
Further details about the full schedule will be announced later in November.
