Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club has held a successful tennis festival, attended by hundreds of local school pupils.
The festival was aimed at local Year 2 and 3 primary school children from the Burnham-On-Sea catchment schools.
Hundreds of children and their teachers attended from Churchfield School, Berrow School, St Joseph’s, Burnham Infants and Brent Knoll.
The teachers participating picked up some tennis delivery tips in order to continue offering new ideas to their pupils.
Organiser Julie Williams, who is an LTA-licensed level 4 senior performance coach and the Head Coach Avenue Tennis Club, said the event had been a great success.
She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The pupils all had an opportunity to try the game and develop their tennis and ball co-ordination skills, with each participant taking home a month’s free family membership for Avenue Tennis Club.”
“The idea is to encourage the local community to come down and play on the courts for free for a month.”
“It is important the local community are both aware, and provided with, accessible playing opportunities.”
Julie also runs a tennis programme for all ages, from 2 years – adults, and will also be running summer multi-sport camps over the school holidays. More details here.
