A teenager was taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog on Burnham-On-Sea beach on Saturday morning (March 16th).
Toby Duggan, pictured right, was running along the beach with a group of triathletes when he was bitten by the animal near the lighthouse.
He was taken to the A&E department at Weston General Hospital where he was given several stitches.
Toby, 17, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I got bitten when a large, dark-coloured dog sprinted towards us as I was training on the beach with a group of triathletes near the lighthouse.”
“I later realised I had blood streaming down my legs and was taken to hospital for the wound to be stitched up.”
He added: “It could have been a lot more serious if a young child had been attacked – and I would warn dog walkers to keep their pets fully under control on the beach.”
Toby was given a tetanus injection as a precuation and is now back at home near Burnham-On-Sea.
