Burnham-On-Sea fire crews called to oil tanker after ditch plunge

Police and fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called to an oil tanker which slid into a roadside ditch on Monday (January 19th).

A soft verge in West Road, Lympsham gave way, sending the tanker – full of heating oil – partially into the ditch.

Crews were called amid concern that the vehicle could have toppled over and it was checked over for safety.

Police spokesman Craig Evry told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called at just after 2pm to a tanker carrying heating oil that was partially in a ditch.”

“It was confirmed that there had been no leakage and no injuries. The road was closed to allow for recovery of the vehicle.”
