Burnham-On-Sea’s Talent Showcase competition opens for entries

-

Entries have opened this week for a Burnham-On-Sea talent competition which aims to shine the spotlight on up-and-coming talents in the town.

Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre will host the second annual Talent Showcase on Saturday February 13th when local musicians will perform in front of a team of judges.

There will be a top prize of a set at ‘FarmFest’, plus many other spaces at local events and festivals up for grabs.

“Last year saw four of the seven acts presented with many opportunites and gigs across the South West,” organiser Lewis Coleman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We saw the invention of the brilliant mixed band Odds to End, the rise of the boy band, The Dex. Both were superb. Corin and Abby, who won the competition, have played extensively since and now go under the name, The Crafters.”

“It’s a great opportunity for aspiring acts to gain some valuable experience and get a chance to build a fanbase.”

The contest will be judged by people from the industry, festival organisers and a record producer.

“Even returning compere Mike Murphy presented the previous acts with opportunites to play at local events,” Lewis added.

“We are looking for singers, duos, guitarists – whilst it is not exclusively a battle of the bands, we have a number of places allocated for bands.”

“It’s also a great evening of entertainment for families, friends and whoever wants to support the local talent, of which there is so much.”

It’s £10 to enter and spaces are limited. Contact blueskytheatreandarts@gmail.com to register and for further information.

The showcase will be held in aid of Burnham-On-Sea based charity Somewhere House Somerset.
