Members of a Burnham-On-Sea school’s tag rugby team had plenty of reason to celebrate this week after winning a local tournament.
The St Andrew’s Junior School team, pictured, took part in the annual King Alfred Tag Rugby Festival for Year 5 & 6 children on Monday (February 26th).
Four other schools from across the area also took part – St Joseph’s, Berrow, Churchfield and the two Huntspill primaries.
St Andrew’s won all their matches and retained the overall trophy during the event at Highbridge’s King Alfred School.
The team was superbly coached by teacher Linda Sharpe, who said: “The girls and boys from all the schools provided everyone with a great tournament and I am obviously pleased that we were able to win.”
Headteacher Gavin Morris added: “This tournament is always great fun and many thanks are owed to King Alfred for hosting and organizing the event. The team is a credit to the school and I am proud of all the children and their success.”
