Two students from Burnham-On-Sea’s TAGB Tae Kwon-Do Club had a brilliant weekend when they competed in the TKDI World Championships at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
3,720 competitors from over 20 countries travelled to what’s billed as the largest Tae Kwon-Do tournament in the world.
These included teams from Argentina, Australia, Canada, South Africa, USA and St Martins.
Burnham’s Isabelle Froggatt won bronze in the girls heavy weight sparring, while Matthew Palfrey won bronze in the mens middle weight sparring.
Senior instructor Jane Lambert, who has competed for many year at an international level, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am so incredibly proud of how all our students prepared and performed for such a major competition.”
“We have training solidly for 6 weeks in the run up to the Worlds and developed a strong sense of camaraderie.”
“It was amazing to see them encouraging and supporting each other. They all fought with great composure and sportsmanship, I couldn’t have asked for more.”
Classes are held at King Alfred School in Highbridge on Tuesday and Thursday evenings when men, women and children of all abilities are welcome.
