Dozens set to make a splash for good causes at Brean Swimarathon

-

Dozens of charity swimmers in the Burnham-On-Sea area will be taking part in a sponsored Swimarathon today (Sunday).

The fourth annual event is being organised by Burnham Rotary Club and is to be held from 10am on February 8th at Brean Splash. Last year, it raised over £2,500.

“The Rotary Swimarathons have proved highly popular, with local voluntary organisations and businesses raising substantial sums of money for their chosen charities,” the club’s spokesman George Moon told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“This year’s event will follow the lines of last year. Medals and certificates will be presented to all participants and an entry fee of £25 will be payable to the Rotary Club for each team entered.”

“All teams will retain the money they raise by sponsorship, and if they represent charitable organisations their charities will be able to claim Gift Aid if applicable.”

“Teams may consist of between two and eight swimmers and more than one team may be entered by any group or business. Teams will swim for a maximum of 50 minutes but bear in mind this is not a competition; swimmers can be sponsored by the length or at a flat rate.”
