Burnham-On-Sea swimming coach receives Royal award

-

A Burnham-On-Sea swimming coach has this week received a prestigious award on behalf of Somerset Amateur Swimming Association.

Sarah Pusill, the group’s Welfare Officer, was presented with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for Somerset Amateur Swimming Association’s committee.

Lady Gass handed over the award at the annual meeting of the Somerset ASA Swimming Clubs this week, as pictured here.

Sarah – who has been Head Coach of Burnham Swimming Club for the last 14 years – has helped the County for a number of years as Somerset Team Manager, Assistant Welfare Officer and now as Welfare Officer.

Sarah, one of the youngest County Presidents in 2008/9, was the first swimming volunteer to achieve the Millennium Volunteer Award in 2000.

In 2006, she was the national runner-up of the Young Volunteer of the Year Award and was invited to a luncheon at St James Palace with Prince Phillip in recognition.

She has been a coach at the ASA South West Region Training Camp at Bryanston School for the last 16 years.
