A young footballer from Burnham-On-Sea met former England manager Sven Goran-Eriksson
at the weekend.
Steven Leaf, 15, who is a player for Burnham United’s Under 16’s side, met Sven while visiting Notts County’s match against Crewe.
Father Martyn explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com how the meeting came about: “I am a life-long Notts County fan and because we moved away from Nottingham when Steven was young, he has not had a chance to go to Meadow Lane.”
“After the game I managed to arrange a quick meeting with Sven.”
“We were taken to the boardroom and he told us about how he has recently moved into an apartment in Nottingham.”
“He also asked Steven if he fancied playing for Notts County. We all thought that Sven looked taller than expected – Steven is 6 foot tall and, as you see from the picture, Sven is slightly taller. It was a great day out.”
Sven is currently the director of football for Notts County and was the first foreign manager of England, succeeding Kevin Keegan in 2001. He had a relatively long spell as England manager, from 2001 to 2006, when he managed the team at two World Cups and Euro 2004.
