Three youths have been arrested this week after the theft of a cash box from a gaming machine at a Burnham-On-Sea amusement arcade.
It came after police received a report from a walker on the town’s seafront on Sunday (November 29th) regarding suspicious activity on the beach below.
Three young males were seen emptying what appeared to be the contents of a cash box into their pockets.
Officers and PCSOs were quickly sent to the scene, near Burnham’s Sunspot Amusements Arcade, and they searched for the trio.
Several members of the public indicated the direction that the males had run off and the police team used their local knowledge to find the suspects and arrest them.
The youngsters had a large amount of coins in their possession and it was confirmed the cash box had been stolen from a machine outside Burnham’s Sunspot Amusements Arcade.
The men were detained and taken to Bridgwater Police station for questioning.
Investigating Officer PC Livingstone told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is a remarkable example of what can be achieved when the police and public work together – a true team effort.”
