A Burnham-On-Sea pensioner has proven that age is no barrier to fitness by completing a gruelling marathon along the Great Wall Of China this month.
Sue Nicholls, 72, has completed her 15th marathon which took place along part of the Great Wall last weekend.
She completed the challenge in a time of 5:53:02 to the sound of loud cheers from the spectators.
Last year, she was awarded a medal in recognition of her feat at having completed marathons in London, Boston, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Berlin.
Sue only began running nine years ago and hasn’t looked back since, regularly taking part in events around the world.
“Age is no barrier – I love running. It keeps your body and your mind active,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Sue ran the marathon in China at the weekend, while locals Stuart Tilley and Peter Tilley ran the half marathon and Peter Tilley did an 8.5km race.
Peter said it had been an amazing experience: “The hills and the steps were awful, but we all got through it. Beer is required later!”
The group also visited China’s famous Tiananmen Square and the forbidden city in Beijing.
