Burnham-On-Sea pensioner Sue Nicholls, 73, completes 16th marathon

-

A Burnham-On-Sea pensioner has proven that age is no barrier to fitness by completing her 16th marathon this week.

Sue Nicholls, 73, completed the Berlin Marathon at the weekend, finishing the challenge with her son in a time of 4 hours and 25 minutes.

“This marathon was extra special because I did it with my younger son Alan, who was running a marathon for the first time,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The Berlin crowds were great, encouraging us along the route with music and cheering.”

Sue only started running ten years ago and hasn’t looked back since, and she regularly takes part in events around the world.

Last year, she was awarded a medal in recognition of her feat at having completed marathons in London, Boston, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Berlin.

“Age is no barrier – I love running. It keeps your body and your mind active,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Sue ran a Great Wall of China marathon earlier this year and is also signed up to run the 2019 London Marathon next Spring.
