A former butcher’s shop on Burnham-On-Sea High Street will be transformed into a new Subway cafe in the New Year, ending a year of speculation about where the chain will be based.
Mike Bond, the entreprenuer who owns the licence to open a Subway in the town, confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday (November 6th) that the new business will open its doors in January, creating up to ten new jobs.
He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I can confirm that we will definitely be opening on The High Street in the shop previously occupied by the former Palmers Butchers in mid-January.”
“Posters will be going up in the shop window next week to advertise for staff, and we will need 8-10 people to fill part-time and full-time positions.”
Palmers Butchers closed over the summer – as reported here.
Subway is a global restaurant franchise that sells sandwiches, called ‘subs’, and salads. It has over 30,000 franchised units in 87 countries.
Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report last December that Subway would be opening a restaurant in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea.
