An episode of BBC One TV programme Street Auction is set to be filmed in Burnham-On-Sea’s Manor Gardens today (Sunday, June 25th) and local people are being encouraged to come along and get involved.
Paul Martin, with the help of experts Paul Martin, Danny Sebastian and Izzie Balmer, will be raising cash for a local neighbour or friend who has helped others.
The afternoon will start with a ribbon being cut by Paul Martin (of the BBC’s Flog It fame) at 1.30pm and will be followed by a pop-up auction starting at 3.30pm.
There will be stalls and local entertainment and plenty of family fun through the afternoon.l
Paul Martin will be in the gardens all day as he will be helping to set up in the morning, along with his sidekick, Danny Sebastian, from Bargain Hunt.
The amount raised during the afternoon, and the local nominee or project it is in aid of, will be revealed later in the day.
On June 8th members of the Street Auction team were in Burnham collecting items to sell on the bric-a-brac stalls and pop-up auction.
They collected unwanted or unloved items, with the idea that someone’s trash is someone else’s treasure.
A few of the more special items were sent to the East Bristol Auction’s saleroom and were sold on June 15th, which gave a head start on the fundraising.
The BBC is keen to welcome volunteers to help out on the day – and would appreciate it if people could bring along any further items for the stalls, especially homemade cakes for the refreshments!
The programme will be shown on BBC One this Autumn.
