Burnham-On-Sea school issues ‘stranger danger’ alert

-

Pupils at a Burnham-On-Sea school have this week been issued with a ‘stranger danger’ warning after a child was approached by a motorist as he cycled home.

The incident occurred last Friday after the boy left St Andrew’s School to cycle home.

In a letter to parents, the school’s headteacher Stephen James writes: “This note is to alert you to an incident that took place after school last Friday.”

“One of our pupils was cycling along Winchester Road on his way home when a man got out of a blue Ford Fiesta and attempted to stop him.”

“Fortunately, the pupil was able to accelerate away from the man, who was wearing a black hoody and black tracksuit bottoms. The man drove off at speed.”

“The police have been notified, but you may wish to remind your child of the importance of keeping safe and the ‘stranger danger’ message.”
