Dozens of people flocked to Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens on Saturday (2nd February) for a special event marking National Storytelling Week.
Children’s entertainer Adrian Beckingham told stories to families in a large teepee set up in the seafront gardens while local author Linda Bond also captured their imagination with several readings of her short stories.
The Friends of Marine Cove, with the support of Sedgemoor District Council, hosted the five-hour event in bright winter sunshine.
Several students from Highbridge’s King Alfred School also took part in a story writing competition. The winner, 11 year-old Ophelia Buckton, received a £10 book token donated by the Friends of Marine Cove, as pictured right.
Jacqui Strong, Marine Cove’s Community Gardener, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were really pleased with the interest shown and thank the community for their support. It was great that the day was such a success and had great weather.”
