Strong onshore winds created unseasonably stormy conditions in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday evening (June 23rd).
Large waves whipped up by the gales splashed onto the town’s seafront in several places at the height of the incoming tide shortly after 7.30pm.
The Environment Agency took the precaution of closing the flood gates at Maddock’s Slade and kept watch on the conditions at Burnham jetty.
The gusty conditions proved ideal for windsurfers, with several seen riding the waves at high speed in Bridgwater Bay.
