Repairs completed to storm-damaged tree in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Work was completed this week on making safe a huge tree in Burnham-On-Sea which was damaged during the recent storms.

Sedgemoor Disrict Council, which owns some of the land at Gardenhurst, near Grove Road, has been busy ensuring that none of the higher branches could come down on nearby homes after 80mph winds damaged the tree at the start of December.

Local resident Roy Wallis told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Plane Trees are rare in Somerset, especially one of this size and age – around 150 years – so it was deemed important to save the tree by removing more dead wood to allow new growth to develop.”
