60mph winds and heavy rain set to hit Burnham-On-Sea today

-

60mph winds and heavy rain are set to sweep through the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Thursday) as Storm Doris heads across the country.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for our area as heavy rain is forecast to arrive in Burnham-On-Sea during the morning, followed by high winds until mid-afternoon.

“Gusts of 50-60 mph are expected widely across the area, with the risk of 70 mph on coasts and hills,” says a Met Office spokesman.

“Travel services could be affected and there could be some damage to trees and buildings.”

Bridgwater Bay is set to be hit by the high winds and drivers of high-sided vehicles have also been asked to take extra care along the M5 motorway through Sedgemoor.

The worst of the weather, however, caused by Storm Doris is forecast to be in the Midlands and north of the country.
